ENG
Magàri is a festival of contemporary Italian culture in Paris. It began from the wish to come together and to build something that would show, outside Italy itself, how many directions Italian artistic work can take today: writing, theatre, cinema, music and more. One slot in the programme is given to a screening of Italian short films, presented as a showcase and not as a competition. Entries came in through an online submission platform.
Rules
- Films of up to 20 minutes, made no earlier than 2015, may enter provided a substantial Italian share in the making can be demonstrated: direction, lead production, screenplay, or setting and shooting locations.
- Responsibility for the content stays with whoever signs the film.
- Dialogue may be in any language. Those chosen are asked for a dialogue list and one SRT subtitle file alongside the film itself, in French, Italian or English — one of the three suffices. The remaining versions are translated so that a foreign audience can follow; where the requested material does not arrive, a film may be dropped.
- Those chosen are notified directly, and the official list appears on the site afterwards.
- For screening, an H264 copy without burnt-in subtitles is requested; Italian-language films should already carry French subtitles.
- After selection, withdrawal of a film is not possible.
- No fee is paid for the screening.
- Submitting a work through the platform counts as full acceptance of these rules.
